15 November 2007 RAM Spreaders launches new telescopic mobile harbour crane spreader
Gottwald Port Technology has ordered a 41 tonne capacity RAM Model 2730, 20ft/40ft, single lift, telescopic spreader. The new 2730 unit was commissioned in August 2007 on the new Gottwald Model 4, GHMK 4406 Harbour Crane, delivered to the Antwerp Port Authority.
The Port of Antwerp Authority can use the RAM spreader on all types of Gottwald Mobile Harbour Cranes in their fleet that includes: HMK 170 E, HMK 260 E and can be found in operation at their terminals in the Albertdock, 4th and 5th Harbourdock and also on the Graindock. The new RAM telescopic container spreader, designed for mobile harbour cranes, uses weight-saving features for maximum crane lifting capacity. The double beam design provides a robust yet low tare weight unit offering maximum crane lifting capacity, and with less inertia when rotating unladen. Six hydraulically operated flippers ensure fast and accurate container location. The design uses a post spreader/crane connection to provide a centre of gravity adjustment system for safer, faster handling. The post pivots left or right of centre for gravity point adjustment and is powered by two hydraulic cylinders. A pin connection at the top of the post provides a fitting location for the mobile harbour crane rotator and ramshorn hook. A hydraulic reservoir is integral into the post, which ensures ideal weight distribution. RAM Spreaders' innovative use of a post connection makes it easier to transport, assemble and commission the spreader on site, as the post can be stored horizontally during transport. RAM Spreaders' new 2730 model joins the existing design of standard single and four beam spreaders already offered by the company.
